Today is Wednesday. Here are five things you need to know:
- Sunny weather continues: According to the National Weather Service, the streak of sunny weather will continue today, with a high temperature near 46 degrees. Tonight will feature partly cloudy skies with a low near 31 degrees, according to the forecast.
- So you think you can dance: The will hold at the school’s Main Street facility. All interested dancers are welcome to attend.
- Happenings at the library: The North Reading Book Discussion Club meets today from 10 a.m. to noon at the Activity Room.
- Spring sports have sprung: The crack of a baseball bat or the sight of athletes taking to the tennis court or track are all sure signs of spring in North Reading. The spring sports season kicks off this week, and North Reading Patch will have it covered. - 30 years ago today: On this date in 1981, President Ronald Reagan was shot in the chest outside a Washington hotel by John Hinckley Jr. While walking to his limousine after speaking at a Washington hotel, Reagan and three aides were shot when Hinckley, standing among a group of reporters, opened fire. Reagan was rushed the hospital, where he jokingly told his wife, Nancy, “Honey, I forgot to duck.” Reagan resumed some presidential duties the next day and returned to the White House on April 11, according to History.com.
