READING, MA — The town announced that curbside trash and recycling collection will fully transition to automated trucks starting July 6.
The trucks use a mechanical arm to lift and empty trash and recycling carts, "creating a safer, cleaner, and more efficient system for our community," according to the town.
Last year, the town issued new standardized trash and recycling carts to all households currently receiving town collection.
Residents' collection day will remain the same.
The town has issued recommendation on what to do for the new automated trash system. Go to the town's website for more information.
