Man Reported Missing In Reading; Police Ask For Help (patch.com) β€” Reading police are asking residents to help locate 60-year-old Curt Nitzsche, who was last seen on Haverhill Street in town and is known to wear a high-visibility yellow shirt. Neighbors and commuters in Reading are urged to keep an eye out and call police at 781-944-1212 with any information that could help bring him home safely.

Reading Scout To Create Mini-Food Pantry at Public Library (thereadingpost.com) β€” A Reading Eagle Scout candidate is installing a Mini-Food Pantry on the grounds of the Reading Public Library, offering shelf-stable food when the main Reading Food Pantry is closed. The project, supported by the Library and Reading Food Pantry, invites neighbors to both donate and take what they need. Residents and groups are also encouraged to consider hosting additional mini-pantries around town.

Reading Police Department to Wear and Offer Patches in Support of Reading Coalition for Prevention and Support (thereadingpost.com) β€” This September, Reading police officers will wear and share special patches to spotlight the Reading Coalition for Prevention and Support during National Recovery Month. Residents can receive a patch by donating to approved mental health or recovery nonprofits and submitting proof to Community Service Officer DaLonn Pearson. The effort aims to raise awareness of local resources for substance misuse prevention and mental health support in Reading.

MBTA Details $140 Million 'Haverhill Double Track' Construction Project (iheart.com) β€” MBTA officials have outlined a nearly $140 million project that will add about 6.8 miles of second track between Reading and Andover, easing bottlenecks on the Haverhill Line. Stations in Reading, North Wilmington, Ballardvale, and Andover will also get accessibility upgrades, boosting capacity and reliability for commuter rail, Amtrak, and freight riders who use Reading's station. A construction timeline has not yet been announced.
