READING, MA — Police said they are investigating an "apparent homicide" in Reading.
Police received a 911 call at 12:38 a.m. Thursday reporting that the body of a 49-year-old woman had been found inside a Center Avenue home.
Police arrived at the home and found the victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. She was declared dead at the home.
Another resident at the home, Ryan Hanafin, 22, is "unaccounted for at this time," police said. His vehicle is also unaccounted for.
Police are actively searching for Hanafin, who is believed to be driving a 2010 black Dodge Charger with license plate 2PSY15.
Hanafin is about 5 feet 10 inches tall.
Anyone who sees either Ryan or the vehicle is asked not to approach and to instead immediately call 911.
