Betty Fraser Passes Away
Longtime Reading resident was born in Chelsea, retired to Florida, but spent last 14 years in town.

Pauline Elizabeth “Betty” Fraser died peacefully on Friday, Aug. 3 in Reading.
Born in Chelsea on July 9, 1918, daughter of the late Raymond T. Gibbs and Elizabeth (Weldon) Gibbs. Betty was raised in Roslindale, MA. She worked as a legal secretary before she married her husband, Warren E. Fraser in 1944. Betty and Warren made their home in Reading, spent their summers in New Hampshire on Ossipee Lake and in retirement moved to Ellenton, Florida. For the past 14 years, Betty returned to Reading to live with her daughter, Nancy.
Survivors include a daughter, Nancy E. Fraser of Reading and brother, Richard Gibbs and his wife Claire of Punta Gorda, Florida. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 58 years, Warren E. Fraser, brother, Dr. Raymond W. Gibbs and sister Elinor Marshall. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Betty enjoyed a lifetime of friendship with her Laurel Lane neighbors, the Colony Cove coffee group in Florida and many close friends.
A memorial service will be held at the Church of the Good Shepherd in Reading, Massachusetts on Saturday, August 11 at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be private at a later date. Donations may be made to Southeastern Guide Dogs, Inc. 4210 77th Street East, Palmetto, Florida 34221 or to the animal shelter of your choice.
