Bomb Threat Made At Reading Stop & Shop Under Investigation
A bomb threat made at a Reading grocery store Monday was deemed not credible.
READING, MA — A bomb threat made at a Reading supermarket Monday was deemed not credible, according to a joint police and fire department statement.
At about 1:45 p.m., police were notified that the Stop & Shop at 25 Walkers Brook Drive had received a threatening phone call claiming there was a bomb in the building.
Police and firefighters responded immediately and evacuated the store. Police then contact the Massachusetts State Police Bomb Squad for assistance.

Police and the bomb squad completed a thorough search of the building at 3:15 p.m., finding no bomb inside.
An investigation is ongoing.

Police and fire have also learned that similar threats were called in to stores in the Boston area and are investigating possible connections between the calls.
