Burbank YMCA to host 4th Annual Laurel Kluge 5K Ribbon Run/Walk

Proceeds benefit PINK and LIVESTRONG cancer survivor exercise programs

On Saturday morning, October 13, 2018 the Burbank YMCA will host the 4th annual Laurel Kluge 5K Ribbon Run/Walk Road Race which starts and ends at the Y. Proceeds will benefit PINK and LIVESTRONG group exercise and support programs designed to help cancer survivors and those in treatment—free of charge—with the physical activity, supportive relationships, and stress reduction they need to regain their health and well-being.

This event, now in its 4th consecutive year, honors Reading resident Laurel Kluge, a loving wife, mother, sister and friend who dedicated her time to philanthropy and volunteerism and sadly passed away at the age of 49 from breast cancer. Burbank Y Executive Director John Feudo said, "Laurel was an enthusiastic, well-loved member of the Burbank Y family. It is a privilege to honor her vibrant memory with our 5K and bring together runners and walkers of all ages and skill levels for a great cause in the Breast Cancer Awareness month of October."

The Laurel Kluge 5K Ribbon Run and Walk will kick-off at 9 a.m. with over 200 participants setting out from the Burbank YMCA, located at 36 Arthur B. Lord Drive in Reading. This family friendly event will also feature live music by The Redeemers, food by Joe's American Grille, free childcare for children ages three to eight, and an all-day Open House including group classes and use of the Fitness and Aquatics Centers.

Director John Feudo noted, "We’re calling on all those who’ve had a brush with cancer or love someone affected by cancer to join us for this fun and festive morning. We need team captains, runners, walkers, volunteers and sponsors to go the distance with friends, family and fellow community members to reach greater numbers of people with these effective, life-enhancing programs; PINK and LIVESTRONG at the YMCA."
