Chan Marden Passes Away
Marden was graduate of Reading Memorial High School class of 1961 and served in the U.S. Air Force.

Ralph C. Marden III “Chan” of Reading died after a period of declining health at his home in Reading on July 16. He was 76 years of age.
Chan was born in Winchester, Massachusetts on May 22, 1942. He was the son of the late Ralph C. Marden, Jr and Constance (Hindon) Marden. Chan was a graduate of Reading Memorial High School class of 1961. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1961-1964. He was stationed at Incirlik Air Base in Turkey and was a member of the K9 Military Corps. Chan was a 45-year member and Past Master of Good Samaritan Lodge A.F. & A.M. in Reading. Chan was a self-employed arborist for many years prior to that working for the Town of Reading as an arborist and dog officer.
Chan was the brother of the late Trina Townley-Tilson and brother in law of W.H. Dale Townley-Tilson of Concord, NH. He was the uncle of Derek Townley-Tilson of Dover, NH and Davin Townley-Tilson of Durham, NC. He was the cousin of Robert Downing and his wife Lisa and Billie Downing all of North Reading.

A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 28 at the Reading Masonic Building, 110 Haven St., Reading at 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Chan’s memory to the MSPCA 350 S. Huntington Ave., Boston, MA 02130-4803 or the Reading Masonic Building Assoc., 110 Haven St., Reading, MA 01867.
