Chris Sale's First Pitch Could be To Reading Resident

Northeastern sophomore Charlie McConnell could dig in vs Sox new hurler.

Could Chris Sale's first pitch as a member of the Boston Red Sox be to a Reading resident? The answer is yes.

Former Belmont Hill star and Northeastern sophomore Charlie McConnell is expected to be in the starting lineup Thursday when the Red Sox open spring training play against the Huskies. The Reading resident has had a strong spring so far, playing both infield and outfield positions. He's started all three of NU's spring games and is hitting .364 with a stolen base. At Belmont Hill, McConnell set the career record for stolen bases with 60.

While neither NU or the Sox have announced their lineups for Thursday McConnell should be on the field in Fort Myers. And a shot at Sale, or David Price, or Rick Porcello would be one for the scrapbook.
