Colonial Chorus Players Announces Auditions for Oliver!

Community theatre looks for performers of all ages to audition for classic tale.

Come one, come all to auditions for Colonial Chorus Players’ production of Oliver! This classic musical is the story of the little scamp who just wanted some more. Come join us as we tell the story of little Oliver as he travels from orphan to beloved son. Performers age 8 and up are welcome to audition.

Please bring sheet music in your key to sing. Songs from the show are preferred. No acapella singing. Be prepared to do movement/dance. Readings from the script will be done.

OLIVER! CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS/AGE & VOCAL RANGES

OLIVER – A sweet, innocent workhouse boy age 8-12 – soprano

FAGIN – Con man who trains children to be pickpockets – Baritone age 45-65

NANCY – Cockney girl with a warm heart – alto age 22-32

BILL SIKES – A villain – Baritone age 30-50.

BET – Nancy’s younger sister and loyal friend – Alto age 20-28

MR. BUMBLE – A pompous, self-important stout man who runs the workhouse – Baritone age 38-50

WIDOW CORNEY – domineering workhouse matron – Soprano age 38-50

THE ARTFUL DODGER – a troubled youth and thief – Soprano age 9-16

MR. SOWERBERRY – The funeral home director – Baritone age 45-60

MRS. SOWERBERRY – wife of funeral director – Soprano age 40-60

NOAH CLAYPOLE – Sowerberry’s bully apprentice – age 13-20

CHARLOTTE – Sowerberry’s daughter – age 13-20

MR. BROWNLOW – A kind and wealthy older gentleman age 60-85

MRS. BEDWIN – Mr. Brownlow’s housekeeper – Soprano age 38-50

ENSEMBLE CHARACTERS – Workhouse & Fagin Gang – boys and girls – ages 8-16

Street Vendors – must have strong solo voices – sing in chorus of “Consider Yourself”

Tavern Customers – sing and dance in chorus of “It’s a Fine life”

Dr. Grimwig – Mr. Brownlow’s doctor age 60-85
