Coolidge MS Presents: Seussical the Musical

Oh, the places you'll go!  Coolidge MS Drama invites you to "Seussical the Musical," a fantastical, magical, musical extravaganza filled with toe-tapping tunes and a wonderful story created directly from the characters and creations of Dr. Seuss. Tony winners Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty have lovingly brought to life all of your favorite Dr. Seuss characters, including Horton the Elephant, The Cat in the Hat, Gertrude McFuzz, Lazy Mayzie, and a little boy with a big imagination--Jojo.

This family-friendly production will take you on a fun filled ride through over 20 of these fantastic and beloved stories, transporting you from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus to the invisible world of the Whos. Narrated by that all-around mischief maker, The Cat in the Hat, “Seussical the Musical” is the story of Horton the Elephant who must not only protect his tiny friend Jojo (and all the invisible Whos) from a world of naysayers and dangers, but also guard an abandoned egg, left to his care by Mayzie La Bird.  Meanwhile, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in Horton, recognizing "his kind and his powerful heart" in the face of ridicule, kidnapping and a trial.  Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family, and community are challenged and emerge triumphant.
Shows will be at the RMHS Performing Arts Center in January 2014, with two evening performances on Friday, January 17 and Saturday, January 18 at 7:30 p.m., and an additional matinee on Sunday, January 19 at 2:00 p.m. which will be followed by a “Character Meet & Greet.”  Tickets for this zany and heartfelt journey are $12 adults, $10 students/seniors and will be available at the RMHS Performing Arts Box Office:
