David Carr Passes Away

Dave was a member of Teamsters Local 25 and worked as a truck driver for 37 years.

David Chase Carr of Reading passed away on Tuesday, June 19th, at Winchester Hospital surrounded by his loved ones. He was 64.

Born in Winchester on June 8, 1954, he was the son of Jean S. Carr (Chase) and the late Burton E. Carr of Reading. He was the beloved twin brother of Alan C. Carr of Reading, brother of Gary B. Carr of Florida and Linda J. Bolt of Marlborough. Dave was the devoted father of Jennifer J. Carr of Wakefield, David J. Carr of Wakefield, Nicholas C. Carr and his wife Jessica of Billerica. Dave’s greatest joy came from being with his family, especially his 9 month old granddaughter Abigail Juliette.

Dave was a member of Teamsters Local 25 and worked as a truck driver for 37 years until he retired from Stop and Shop in 2014. He always had a passion for watching and attending drag races with his twin brother Al traveling to different states, as they befriended many of the racing crew.

Most of all he loved spending summers with his family at their cottage on Damariscotta Lake Maine, boating, fishing and water skiing. Dave was an avid sports fan and closely followed the Red Sox, Patriots, Bruins and Celtics.

A visitation will be held at the Douglass, Edgerley and Bessom Funeral Home 25 Sanborn St. (corner of Woburn St.) Reading on Sunday, June 24th from 4-8 pm. A church service will be held at First Congregational Church of Reading, 25 Woburn St, Reading, MA 01867 on Monday, June 25th at 11 am
