May 20, 2014– Atrius Health, an alliance of six non-profit medical groups and a home health and hospice agency, is proud to announce that Chief Medical Officer Dr. Rick Lopez is a recipient of the Becker’s Healthcare 2014 Leadership Award. The annual award honors 25 national healthcare leaders who have made remarkable contributions to their respective health systems, hospitals and communities.
“In large part because of Dr. Lopez’s leadership, Atrius Health is now at the cutting edge of healthcare reform both locally and nationally,” said Marci Sindell, Chief External Affairs Officer for Atrius Health. “We are delighted that Dr. Lopez has been recognized by Becker’s for his innovative work creating systems and processes to improve performance in quality and safety, creating multiple disease and population management programs, and the building relationships with Atrius Health’s external partners.”

Dr. Lopez was recognized for his leadership on Atrius Health’s groundbreaking initiatives and improvement efforts, including his work supporting the development the organization’s distinguished Pioneer Accountable Care Organization program, his leadership role in the development of EMR and data warehouse systems, and his efforts to improve practice variation by collaborating with clinicians. Dr. Lopez is also at the forefront of health reform locally and serves on the Statewide Quality Advisory Committee and the Massachusetts Medical Society’s Committee on the Quality of Medical Practice.

Dr. Lopez will be recognized at the fifth annual Becker's Hospital Review Conference, which will take place May 15-17 in Chicago.
