Accused Reading, Wakefield Drunken Driver To Be Arraigned Monday

READING, MA — A New Hampshire man was arrested Friday after two crashes that damaged five cars in Reading and Wakefield. Jonathan Markow, 29, of Hampton, NH, faces charges of operating under the influence of alcohol and operating to endanger.

Emergency crews in Reading were called to Walkers Brook Drive at 8:10 p.m. Nov. 29 and found three cars with "serious" damage, police said. Investigators found that Markow, driving a 2009 Chevrolet Tahoe, hit a Fiat 500 and Honda Ridgeline on the northbound side of the road before stopping, according to police.

Markow was involved in a crash in Wakefield before fleeing and crashing in Reading, police said. Five people, including Markow, were taken to area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.

Markow will be arraigned Monday. He is expected to face additional charges, according to police.
