Reading Lions Club’s 10th Annual Reading Friends and Family Day is This Saturday!
Reading’s 10th annual start of summer event, Reading Friends and Family Day, takes place on Saturday June 15, 2013 in the Birch Meadow Area. From an early morning kid’s run to the late evening fireworks, you can look forward to a fun-filled day of activities, entertainment and information for all ages.
Since 2004, The Reading Lions Club has sponsored and organized Reading Friends and Family Day, also known as Town Day. This has now become a true community event as many groups have stepped up to both participate and become major sponsors.

Reading Friends and Family Day Booths and Entertainment are open 11:00 A.M. through 3:00 P.M. Check out the booth area for Big Daddy’s Remote Control Race Cars, a Boy Scout built rope bridge, petting Zoo (11-1), jumpy house, tours of town vehicles, dance, color guard, soccer and karate demonstrations. Ongoing activities include: a dunk tank, kids building and gardening activities, face painting, games, arts and crafts and more. In addition to all the fun activities this is a chance to find out what is going on in your town! Representatives from many organizations and town departments will be on hand to share information on town happenings, education, safety, trails, health, summer reading, conservation and lots of meet and greet opportunities with local officials. Residents of all ages will enjoy a full day of food, drawings, giveaways and demonstrations! When you need a break from all the excitement, grab a snack and head over to the Entertainment Stage. Performances include dance, singing and instrumental exhibitions.

This year’s activities begin with the FORR Kids Fun Run. See the FORR website for more information, http://www.forr01867.org. Once again Reading Friends and Family will finish with a bang as The Friends of Reading Recreation and the Reading Recreation Department worked together to sponsor the fourth annual fireworks performance!
Over the past 10 years Reading Friends and Family Day has more than doubled the amount of presenters and participants!
