VITA Tax Assistance
Free tax preparation with electronic filing is available on Saturdays from February 5 through April 10 with walk-in hours from 9:15 a.m. until 1 p.m.(except only until noon on February 5) in Reading.

On Saturday February 19 and March 19 walk-in hours begin at 9:00 a.m. at the RMLD cafeteria, 230 Ash Street, Reading.

Those age 60 and older should call in their town for an appointment during other hours:

Lynnfield 781-334-5411
North Reading 978-664-5600
Reading 781-942-6608
Wilmington 978-657-7595

Be sure to bring your W-2 forms, Social Security and pension information, tax forms sent by financial institutions, property tax and water bills, copies of your 2009 state and federal tax returns, estimated taxes that you paid in 2010, your 2010 costs for making your home energy efficient and a health insurance card for you and your spouse.

Massachusetts tax filers and their spouses might incur a tax penalty if they do not provide proof of health insurance. Because of the very late changes to the Federal tax laws, it is suggested that you wait until March to prepare your taxes if your income includes dividends, mutual funds, or sales of stocks.

Also, the new assessment limit for the senior citizen Circuit Breaker tax credit is $764,000 and the new credit value is $970.

Call 781 942-6608 for appointments.
