These are some of the statements I have heard over the years and I am here to demystify some of these beliefs. Yes, there are some yoga classes that are not recommended for someone new to yoga, or someone with chronic pain, or if you do not have a regular fitness program, etc.

Yoga can be for you if you have not been physically active in a while and you want to stretch and move your body in ways that feel good and safe for you. You may have heard how beneficial yoga can be, but there are some facts you need to know and questions you need to ask before entering a class for the first time.

During this part lecture and part workshop, I will introduce simple ways in which you can open up your body, even while seated in a chair!

Saskia Bergmans has been teaching and studying yoga since 1997 and she founded Studio OM LLC in 2004.  Saskia is a Dutch national, but grew up in England. Her training started in the mid-nineties in The Netherlands, where she first started taking yoga classes. There she trained with Dona Holleman and Orit Sen-Gupta. In Boston, MA, Saskia completed her 200-hour teacher training in 2004 and her 500-hour training in 2007, with Kim Valeri, Founder and Director of Yogaspirit Studios.  Saskia continues to study under Kim Valeri. She teaches in the style of the Yogaspirit lineage. Saskia teaches yoga in various locations in and around Boston and the North Shore. Saskia's style of teaching is centering and mindful, with precision and grace she guides her students through class, catering and allowing for modification of the poses wherever necessary. She creates a safe and compassionate environment for her students to explore and discover their own path to yoga.  She specializes in prenatal and post partum yoga and is a trained, but not yet formally certified, Doula.
