Wudang Tai Chi & Qigong

An introduction to the art of Wudang style Tai Chi and the Wudang Five Animals Qigong practice.This one hour lecture will include a brief history about Wudang Mountain (in Hubei province, China) and it's Taoist traditions and practices, the various types of martial arts practiced there for physical health, spiritual well being, and energetic development, and the presenter's experiences of incorporating Wudang Tai Chi & Qigong into their lives. The physical health benefits of this practice will be discussed as well as the additional benefits of greater personal energy and power as a result of regular practice.

The rest of the program will include a brief demonstration of some of the Wudang Tai Chi & Qigong techniques and form practice, a brief question & answer period, and then a short lesson to give the attendees a chance to experience the flowing Tai Chi and Qigong movements for themselves.

Paul and Rosalie DiCrescenzo have been martial arts practitioners since 1977, and have been training/ teaching Chinese martial arts for the last 12 years. They are both private students of Master Zhong, Xue Chao, former head of the Wudang Mountain Taoist Kungfu Academy. Paul currently teaches Tai Chi/Qigong classes through the Winchester Hospital's Community Health Institute, Tai Chi and Kung Fu classes at the Melrose YMCA, Robin's Yoga and Healing Center in Tewksbury, and the Gold's Gym in Arlington. In addition to acting as assistant instructor in their regular classes, Rosalie is co-instructor in the new Tai Chi for Balance and Rejuvenation program offered through the Winchester Hospital designed to aid in the recovery of balance, muscular control, and stability lost to acute or chronic conditions.
