Fabulous Mamas' Books, Wine and Chocolate Club
For a literary escape with a twist, join the "wine club with a reading problem."

The North Reading Mom and Tots Group, the Fabulous Mamas, is seeking readers, wine drinkers and chocolate connoisseurs.
Founding member Linda Moriarity decided to create a Books, Wine and Chocolate club for moms that would balance challenge with fun. She doesn’t expect to be reading War and Peace, but she does imagine they will read both classics and best sellers and she is open to suggestions.
“We want it to be fun, enjoyable and challenging, and to get (our) brains out of that sluggish place that comes from reading too many Dr. Seuss books,” she said. “And, although we will have wine, snacks -- and maybe more wine -- we will take tremendous pride in actually following through and reading the book.”

The club kicks off Sept. 19 at 7 p.m., and is intended to be a true parental escape – a no-kids evening in which adults discuss adult things and enjoy each other’s company. Its 14 members will meet every four to six weeks, depending on the length and the breadth of the book.
Moriarity began the moms group last April and it has grown steadily ever since. Presently, 83 Fabulous Mamas make up its membership. Her hope is that they will become active community members.

“In the fall, we’re gonna be gearing up, kids are in school, for adults it's like going back to school,” she said adding that many people re-establish schedules at this time of year. “That’s what we’re here for: to keep people active and involved in the community.”
