416.6 lbs and 105.2% Body Fat Lost in 8 Weeks
Shred Challenge II finishes with a group of 39 members losing over 416 lbs. and 105% body fat in 8 weeks. The highest fat loss percentage was 7.7% and the highest weight loss was 24 lbs.
Fitness Within holds a 8 week Shred Challenge twice a year focused on body composition. There aren't any gimmicks, meals to buy, magic drinks or pills. It is learning how to eat enough calories, eating whole foods and exercise. During the 8 weeks you learn a lot about yourself and your body.
Though weight loss is important to track, it is only used as a measurement and to calculate your basil metabolic rate. "It tells your coach if you are going in the right direction, however, it is body fat percentage which gauges if you are healthy," says Domenic Prisco who is one of the owners and Studio Director. Prisco explains that your weight alone is not an indicator of good health because it does not distinguish between pounds that come from body fat and those that come from lean body mass or muscle. That is why the Shred Challenges at Fitness Within focuses on body fat percentage loss vs weight loss. "We had one challenger that is pretty lean but could stand to lose some body fat. She only lost 3 lbs but lost 2% body fat," Prisco says.
To participate you must be on one of the various memberships because this is a team challenge and we found that those committed to the membership are committed to their team. You must agree to follow the extra cardio program designed for the challenge in addition to the service you purchased, create and stick to a meal plan based on your basil metabolic rate, check-in weekly, join your teams Line app for weekly cardio programs as well as seek motivation and support from your team members and coach, sign a shred challenge waiver and there is a $25 registration fee. "It is important before starting any diet or exercise program to speak with your physician. says Prisco. "We provide nutritional guidance as well as design cardio programs during the 8 week challenge."

Shred Challenge II ended with Team Dom slaying the most body fat. His team of 12 women melted a whopping 45.4% body fat and 172 lbs. It was harder for his team to win because women do not burn as body fat as quickly as men. The other teams had a mixture of men and women. When you are consistent, committed and motivated you will see results and conquer," says Prisco. Each member of Team Dom received a $100 gift card towards any service at Fitness Within, a Trophy and their name engraved on the sword for slaying the most body fat. The overall winner was Geena who lost 20.7% and 7.7% body fat. She earned a $150 gift card towards any Fitness Within service.
Team Kyle had 13 members and lost 129.3 lbs and 28% body fat, while Team Glenn had 14 members and lost 115.8 lbs and 31.8% body fat.

Shred Challenge III is slated for late March 2019. Prisco says, "you don't have to wait until the next Shred Challenge to start your journey. The Shred Challenge is only an accelerated program of something we do at the studio each and every day."
