Help Us to Help a Refugee Family
Help a refugee family to find a safe home in the Reading, MA area in 2018. Affordable housing and funding are needed now.

A community-wide effort is underway in Reading to help resettle a refugee family in our area. Reading POWR (People Organized to Welcome Refugees) is working with Catholic Charities to help an as-yet unknown family begin a safe, new life in the United States. The family will have undergone multiple background checks and will be legally admitted into the country, eligible to work and to pursue U.S. citizenship. Critical needs right now are for affordable housing (a 2-bedroom apartment renting for $1700/month or less in Reading or a nearby community), and funding to supplement a federal housing allowance for a 6-month period. If you are troubled by news of a world wide refugee crisis and want to do more, here is a chance to help real people.
