High School Football Players of the Week
Weekend heroes lead teams to Super Bowl berths and NEPSAC titles

Jean Vazquez, Falmouth — If a 91-yard touchdown reception doesn't earn you player of the week mention, what will? The Clippers senior wide receiver turned a first-and-19 play early in the third quarter into a touchdown when quarterback Nick Couhig hit Vazquez with the long scoring pass. The two connected earlier as well, with Vazquez scoring on an 18-yard pass play. With the win, Falmouth (11-0) advances to the Division 2A Super Bowl against Marblehead.
Bobby Maimaron, Duxbury — A fixture in the weekly honors, the senior quarterback came up big again in a win over Beverly that sends the Green Dragons (11-0) to the Division 2 Super Bowl opposite Shrewsbury. Maimaron was 10-of-19 passing for 231 yards and three touchdowns, leaving his career total at 118 with two games to play (Duxbury faces Marshfield on Thanksgiving). Maimaron also ran for two touchdowns.
Greg Plunkett, East Bridgewater — Here's a first. A player is honored for making a mistake. In the Vikings win over Nipmuc in the Division 3A semifinals, the senior cornerback lined up on the wrong side of the field. The result? He stepped in front of a Nipmuc receiver, picked off the pass, and returned it for a 26-yard touchdown. East Bridgewater (10-1) advanced to the Super Bowl at Gillette opposite St. Mary's.

Jason Andrade, Mashpee — When you score 42 points, there are plenty of offensive stars. But the nod here goes to the senior running back and corner back. In the 42-24 win over Brighton, Andrade scored two touchdowns and ran for 101 yards. The Falcons' line also deserves praise for the 262 total rushing yards against Brighton. Next up for Mashpee (10-1) is the Division 4 Super Bowl against Wahconah.
Brad Rogers, Hanover — The senior back picked a great two weeks to have his best games of the season. After scoring four times in the South final against Holliston, Rogers was back at it in the state semifinal against Triton. He scored four more touchdowns in the 54-13 win and ran for 186 yards on 16 carries. Hanover (10-0) will face Grafton in the Division 3 Super Bowl at Gillette.

Zach Geddes, Belmont Hill — The senior quarterback and Winchester resident led Belmont Hill to a 41-23 win over Wilbraham & Monson in the Kevin Fleming Bowl. He threw for 120 yards and a touchdown while running for 128 yards and two touchdowns. Belmont Hill, which finished 1-7 last fall, ended this season at 7-2.
Adam Billard, Tabor Academy — In a wild 49-42 win over St. George's in the Hugh Caldera Bowl, the senior quarterback and Sandwich resident ran for two touchdowns and threw for two more. His last touchdown was a 1-yard run that clinched the game for the Seawolves.
Bryce Latosek, Millis — The Mohawks will play in the Division 4A Super Bowl and once again it was their junior quarterback orchestrating the win. Latosek completed 11-of-17 passes for 231 yards and a touchdown in the win. Millis (9-2) will face Maynard in the Division 4A Super Bowl.
Jeff Costello, BB&N — In his last high school football game, the senior quarterback and Lexington native accounted for five touchdowns as BB&N beat Suffield, 63-41, in the Ken O'Keefe Bowl. Costello ran for 185 yards and three touchdowns and passed for two others. With those two touchdown passes, he finished his career with 98.
