How Much Snow Did Reading Get From Groundhog Day Storm?

Reading picked up 15.5 inches of snow from the Groundhog Day snowstorm on Monday, according to the National Weather Service.

The storm refused to stop on Monday. The forecast called for the hardest snow to fall on Monday morning before dissipating in the afternoon and stopping in the evening. The snow didn’t stop in intensity, but even seemed to pick up steam in the afternoon and early evening before finally stopping late on Monday night.

The town picked up one of the highest snowfall amounts in Middlesex County from the storm. Wakefield got the most at 17 inches of snow.

Reading picked up a combined 37 inches of snow from the Blizzard of 2015 and Groundhog Day storm. That doesn’t count the few inches we got from a smaller storm in between the bigger storms.

This means Reading has had more than three feet of snow in a week -- after a relatively snow-less winter before the past week.

Worcester County picked up the most snowfall from the Groundhog Day storm. Leominster got 20.7 inches, Lunenberg received 19.5 inches and Westminster got 19 inches.

CBSBoston reported that the past week has been the snowiest seven days in Boston on record.
