Janet Crowley Passes Away

Janet H. (Nilsson) Crowley, 72, of Scituate, formerly of Reading, passed away peacefully with loved ones by her side on Saturday morning, July 1. She was the wife of the late John “Jay” L. Crowley who died in 2013.

Janet was born and raised in Malden. She lived and worked in Reading for more than 40 years, before moving to Scituate to be with her daughter. She also enjoyed spending time in Tewksbury, MA. with her close friends.

Janet appreciated the simple things in life, and loved spending time with her family. A devoted grandmother to her four grandchildren, she looked forward to her annual Caribbean vacation trips with her family.

In addition to her husband Jay, Janet was preceded in death by her son, the late John “Jay” L. Crowley, II, and her brother, the late Roy Nilsson.

She is survived by her daughter, Jill C. Porter and her husband Michael of Scituate; and her four grandchildren, Rebecca and Sarah Crowley of Reading, and Madeleine and Michael Porter of Scituate.

A memorial service will be held at the Douglass, Edgerley & Bessom Funeral Home, 25 Sanborn St. (cor. of Woburn St.) Reading on Friday, July 7 at 11 am.
