Joanne Burke Passes Away

Joanne A. (Mellor) Burke of Reading, formerly of Somerville, passed away on Wednesday, April 18 at the Sawtelle Family Hospice House in Reading. She was 70 years of age.

Joanne is the beloved wife of David W. Burke. She is the cherished mother of Jared Burke and the late David Mellor. Joanne is the loving foster mother of 12 children. She is the devoted sister of John Mellor, Ellynn Walker, Roberta Perry, William Mellor, Claire Conlon, Shirley Walles, Paul Mellor and the late Edward and Joseph Mellor. The dear sister in law of Peter Burke, Patricia Fillmore, and the late Thomas, James and John Burke, Joanne is the loving daughter of the late James Mellor and Agnes (Noonan) Mellor. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are cordially invited to gather and share memories with the Family on Friday, April 27th from 4-8 pm in the Doherty – Barile Family Funeral Home, 11 Linden St., Reading. Parking attendants available. A Funeral Service Celebrating Joanne's Life will be held on Saturday, April 28th at 11 am in the First Congregational Church of Reading, 25 Woburn St. Reading.
