Join Me in Voting Carlo Bacci for Select Board

On April 2, the residents of Reading will have the opportunity to elect Carlo Bacci to our Select Board, and he is the right person for the job. I got to know Carlo and his family very closely over the years through either seeing them at The Chocolate Truffle before they sold that business and when his wife Erin was running for State Senate. If I have learned anything from my involvement with the Bacci family over the years, it is that Carlo Bacci truly cares about the town of Reading and the people who live here.

I had the privilege of touring CB Stuffer Chocolate Manufacturer in Swampscott, the small business that Carlo and his family run, and it is a great business. They take care of their employees, the wide array of chocolate goods that they make are fantastic, and this is the type of experience which I think is really important to have on a local Select Board. Carlo has a great understanding of how to run a small business and that mindset would be really helpful to have on the Select Board because local laws have a big impact on how our Main Street businesses operate. When Carlo Bacci is elected, our local businesses will have a great voice on the Select Board and that is something we need for businesses to be attracted to Reading.

It is also very important to me that we have Select Board members who view Proposition 2 ½ Overrides as a last resort to raising additional tax revenue. It is very reassuring that Carlo Bacci wants to be able to go for at least 5 years until another Override appears on the ballot as these Overrides are a big financial burden to the residents of Reading, particularly those on fixed incomes. As a business owner, Carlo understands that sometimes cuts need to be made, as much as we may not like that idea it is a hard truth that we must accept when it comes to spending the tax dollars of the Reading residents.

On April 2 there are five candidates running for Select Board and you have the opportunity to vote for two candidates. I hope you will join me in casting one of your votes for Carlo Bacci, a small business owner, husband, father, soccer coach, but above all else, someone who just wants to do what is best for our town.
