Large Fight Injures at Least 1 Person

Police are investigating a large fight at the North Reading Shopping Center on Washington Street that injured at least one person on Saturday afternoon.

Police received several 911 calls around 2:45 p.m. Saturday from witnesses reporting a fight involving between 10-15 people in the plaza's parking lot, according to a statement from police. Witnesses reported that at least one person was wielding a bat, another person had a knife and another person was kicking a victim on the ground, according to police.

At least one person suffered significant injuries, police said, although more information was not immediately available.

Witnesses reported seeing a gray Nissan Frontier leaving the area with three males and one female, police said in a statement. Police believe the assailants and some of the people involved in the fight knew each other.

The incident remains under investigation. Police are asking anyone who may have seen the fight or has information relating to it to call the  Detective Division at 978-357-5046.
