LIVEWIRES PRESENTS: A Mississippi Delta Blues Concert featuring Poor Howard Stith & Mike "Bullfrog" Rogers
Celebrate summer as 'Poor Howard" Stith and Mike 'Bullfrog" Rogers bring alive the Mississippi Delta blues tradition.

Tue, August18, 7:00 p.m. at the Pleasant Street Center
49 Pleasant Street, Reading
‘Poor Howard” Stith and Mike ‘Bullfrog” Rogers bring alive the blues tradition that originated in the Mississippi Delta region in the early 20th Century. Take a walk through the Delta for an educational and entertaining mix of music and folk humor; learn how this distinctly American music has gained international popularity.
Howard is a scholar of early blues and has been performing for over forty years. Inspired by the music of Leadbelly, Howard carries on the 12-string guitar style that emerged in the 1930’s, and also plays steel guitar in the ‘bottleneck” style made popular by Son House and Robert Johnson. Mike Rogers draws his harmonica style from the music of Sonny Terry, and although he has mastered many styles, he captures perfectly the southern country blues of the depression. Together, they bring alive this important era of music.
