Marjorie Messina Passes Away
Longtime Reading resident was a member of the First Baptist Church.

Marjorie A. (Jones) Messina of the Abors of Stoneham, a former longtime resident of Reading, passed away on August 30, 2017 at the Sawtelle Family Hospice House in Reading. She was 84 years of age.
Marjorie was born in Lowell, Massachusetts on July 25, 1933 the daughter of the late George W. and Elsie (MacLeod) Jones. Marjorie was a graduate of Lowell State Teachers class of 1955. She taught briefly in the Tewksbury school system. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Reading and was an active member of two women’s bible study groups. She enjoyed reading and spending time with friends and family most especially her four granddaughters.
Marjorie was the devoted mother of Robert W. Messina and his wife Milce of Westwood, Karen Messina-Perez of Reading and the late Richard W. Messina. Cherished sister of Arline Leman of San Antonio TX and loving grandmother of Gabriella Messina, Victoria, Virginia and Mirissa Perez. She was also the longtime companion of the late Hugh Metzler. She was the former wife of the late Fred Messina.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, September 4, at the First Baptist Church 45 Woburn St., Reading at 11 a.m. Visiting hours will be Sunday at the Douglass, Edgerley & Bessom Funeral Home 25 Sanborn St. (corner of Woburn St.) Reading from 5-8 p.m. Burial is private.
