MIAA Picks Field For Super 8 Baseball

The MIAA selected the field for the Super 8 baseball tournament Monday night, naming defending champion Braintree along with three Catholic Conference teams.

The top seed is St. John's of Shrewsbury, the first time a CMass team has been the tournament's top seed. The No. 2 seed is St. John's Prep, which beat SJS in the past week. No. 3 is Central Catholic. No. 4 is BC High. No. 5 is Braintree. No. 6 is Xaverian. No. 7 is Newton North. No. 8 is Belmont.

That means the first round matchups have St. John's (S) facing Belmont; St. John's Prep vs. Newton North; Central Catholic vs. Xaverian; and BC High vs. Braintree.

First round games will be held Wednesday at higher seeds. The Division 1-2-3-4 tournament pairings will be released Tuesday.
