Mignosa Is First Reading Finisher In Marathon

Twenty-year-old Kate Mignosa was the first Reading runner to finish the 121st Boston Marathon Monday, crossing the line in 3:02.43. Her time was good enough for 102nd place in her age group and she was 1,740th overall. Mignosa was at 1:29.40 halfway thru the race and maintained that pace to the finish.

In other Reading results, a group of local runners all finished within minutes of each other. Tomasz Szrajber finished in 3:02.57, just 14 seconds behind Mignosa. The 33-year-old Szrajber's time was good enough for 1,764st overall. Alexander Whearity was right behind him in 3:05.33 (2,099 overall) and Patrick Mahoney was a few minutes back in 3:08.12. The 37-year-old Mahoney was 2,478th overall, and 1,547th in his age group.

Thirty-nine year old Samuel Cervantes finished in 3:09.59, good enough for 2,819th place and 1,689th in his age group. Paul Whitelam was next, crossing in 3:10.34. The 46-year-old was 2,919 overall.
