Miriam Nigro Passes Away
Longtime Reading resident was an active member of St. Agnes Church in Reading.

Miriam May (Mullen) Nigro, a resident of Reading for 27 years, died on Aug. 27 at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center in Burlington. She was 82 years of age.
Miriam was born in Framingham, Massachusetts the daughter of the late John T. and Ruth (Mason) Mullen. Miriam was an active member of St. Agnes Church in Reading. She served as Treasurer of the Education Committee and served as a Eucharistic Minister. Miriam became a member of the Reading Business and Professional Women’s Club in 1985. She was honored as the 2002-2003 Member of the Year Award for being a loyal member and friend. She was recognized for serving on many committees, was instrumental in getting new members and provided a wonderful Christmas program with the musical talents of the youth in the Reading Community. She was also a volunteer the Reading Symphony Orchestra. She worked for many years in Human Resource most recently for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Registrar for Emergency Medical Technicians. Miriam and her husband traveled extensively in the U.S. and abroad. She was an accomplished gardener. She studied flower arranging and enjoyed that hobby as well.
Miriam was the beloved wife of Eugene R. Nigro. Cherished sister of Ken Mullen of CA, Linda Rogers of TX, and Peter Mullen of Northborough and the late Donald Mullen, John Mullen, Elizabeth Carey, Jane Smith, Barbara Geishecker, and Gene Mullen. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Her funeral will be held from the Douglass, Edgerley and Bessom Funeral Home 25 Sanborn St. (corner of Woburn St.) Reading on Wednesday, Sept. 5 at 9:30 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Agnes Church 186 Woburn St. in Reading at 10:30 am. Burial to follow in Forest Glen Cemetery, Reading. Funeral home visiting hours will be Tuesday from 4-6 pm.
