Obituary: Peter E. Surette, Jr., Raised in Reading

He worked for H.P. Hood, Inc. for 37 years and was a member of the Quarter Century Club.

Peter E. Surette, Jr., 84, of North Reading, died peacefully at his home on, Sunday, Aug. 24, 2014.

Born in Woburn, MA on Nov 2, 1929, he was the son of the late Peter E., Sr. and Adele (D’Entremont) Surette. He was raised in Reading and was a graduate of Reading High School. Peter was a U.S. Air Force Veteran of the Korean Conflict, he was a Staff Sergeant and served from 1948 to 1952.

He worked for H.P. Hood, Inc. for 37 years and was a member of the Quarter Century Club. He has been a resident of North Reading for the past 59 years.

Peter was patient and very forgiving; he also was very kind to everyone. He always helped everyone if he could. He was wonderful with children and was a real good man.

He bowled for the Candlewood Bowling Alley in North Reading for more than 50 years and he also played with the “Over 30” Men’s Softball League.

Family members include his loving wife of 61 years, Corinne A. (Rightmyer) Surette; his loving sons, Edward P. Surette and Peter E. Surette, III, both of North Reading, Paul P. Surette and his wife Laura of Billerica and the late Thomas R. Surette; daughter-in-law, Jean Surette of Tewksbury; his brother, Richard Surette and his wife Marcia of NH and his brother-in-law, George E. Rightmyer of Freedom, NH. Also survived by 6 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be private and are under the direction of the Croswell Funeral Home, 19 Bow Street, North Reading. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in his name to VNA of Middlesex East and Visiting Nurse Hospice, 607 North Street, Suite 17, Wakefield, MA 01880.
