Obituary: Robert H. Kelly, World War II Veteran

Robert H. Kelly, a resident of Reading for 54 years, died at the Daniel’s House Nursing Home in Reading on December 25, 2014. He was 88 years of age. Robert was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on September 2, 1926 the son of Robert E. and Gertrude (Ford) Kelly.

Robert proudly served his country during WW II and was honorably discharged with the rank of Seaman First Class. He was a graduate of UMass Amherst and was a member of St. Agnes Church in Reading.

Robert was the beloved husband of Thomasina (Simone) Kelly. Devoted father of Robert H. Kelly, Jr. and his wife Eileen of New Rochelle NY, Paul Kelly and his companion Sheryl of N. Reading, Mark Kelly and his wife Dianne of Goffstown NH, Nancy E. Vardaro and her husband Bill of Bedford NH, Susan Sullivan and her husband Daniel of Reading, and the late Stephen J. Kelly. He was the cherished brother of the late William Kelly of Watertown and loving grandfather of 12.

His funeral will be held from the Douglass, Edgerley and Bessom Funeral Home 25 Sanborn St. (corner of Woburn St.), Reading on Monday, December 29, at 9:30am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Agnes Church 186 Woburn St., Reading, at 10:30am. Burial is private. Funeral home visiting hours will be held on Sunday from 4-8pm.
