Patch Picks: MA High School Football Weekend

After predicting a Trump win, it's on to EMass football games

Andover over Everett — I'm not standing in front of the EJ Perry Express. There isn't anything this kid can't do and Everett will be latest team to leave the field shaking their heads and wondering what just happened. Sounds like a Clinton supporter actually.

BC High over Xaverian — In a battle of the birds, the Eagles won't be shut out again by the defending Super Bowl champion Hawks. BC High's offense is back after stumbling in mid-October. So raise your hand if you had Andover vs BC High as your Division 1 Super Bowl participants.

Reading over Lincoln-Sudbury — Reading's defense is one of the best kept secrets in the tournament, with three straight shutouts, and this one could make it four straight. You might overlook Reading because of the two losses but they were to Lexington and Central Catholic. The Rockets are headed back to Gillette.

Bridgewater-Raynham over King Philip — KP will finish with more points but B-R will carry the first, third, and fourth quarters and win game. What do you mean that doesn't make sense?

Billerica over Beverly — So the question is, "why not us?" My answer is because Billerica is better. The Indians only loss was in Tewksbury and yes that's the team Beverly beat to get to the final. But Billerica has beaten Andover and Everett. That's impressive. These are two teams on different levels.

North Reading over Marblehead — The Hornets have Matt McCarthy. Marblehead doesn't. Call it the Trump card. And remember North Reading fans, you have the bye into the Super Bowl. No messing around with Central Mass teams in a semifinal. Win and it's off to Gillette.

Falmouth over Westwood — After easy win over the Wolverines it's on to a semifinal matchup with a Central Mass team. Who? Doesn't matter because these Clippers are heading to Gillette and an undefeated season.

Bellingham over Medfield — You don't think Zack Levy could do it again, do you? With more than 800 yards rushing the past two weeks including a state record 546 against Case, he has to be tired, right.

Holliston over Hanover — The only team to beat Holliston the past three years has been Westwood. Thanksgiving is coming so it could happen again but this is Hanover and Holliston can't be stopped.

Duxbury over North Attleboro — History will be made when Bobby Maimaron throws for his next touchdown and passes Troy Flutie to become the state's all-time career leader. And how about a little trivia. What do the top four passers in state history have in common? Answer: their father was their coach. Flutie, Jonathan DiBiaso, EJ Perry, and Maimaron.

Last week: 6-4; season 48-36.
