Stop & Shop raised the donated funds through its Food for Friends program.

Reading Stop & Shop’s Food for Friends program raises funds for community food pantries and regional food banks, and the Reading Food Bank was a recent beneficiary.
Reading Stop & Shop store manager Tom Dolan presented checks from the local store’s Food for Friends fundraising program to Reading Food Pantry volunteers, Phyllis Maxwell and Bruce Maxwell.
“Customers, associates and partners support the program and 100 percent of the funds raised go directly to community food pantries and regional food banks,” according to a press release. “In 2014, Stop & Shop’s 213 New England stores raised just over a million dollars through the Food for Friends program.”
