pianist Virginia Eskin comes to Reading on Feb 28
Celebrity pianist Virgina Eskin, and Lucinda Ellert's Reading Civic Concert Band, team up to present: PLAYING FAVORITES.
Virginia Eskin is the featured soloist as Reading Civic Concert Band presents “Playing Favorites”, a program of favorites drawn from the band’s last 50 concerts. Ms. Eskin’s impeccible technical skill, and deeply sensitive insight will be featured in Gershwin’s Rhapsody In Blue. Eskin will also present cameo pieces from ragtime, her favorite genre.
Other favorites from Lucinda Ellert’s tenure as Conductor, include ‘Suite of Old American Dances’, ‘Blue Shades’, and ’Night in the Tropics’. Ellert and Eskin have teamed up before, to present ‘Yamakraw’ in 2012. You might also know Ms Eskin as a lecturer, radio host, and producer of the NPR show, “First Ladies of Music”.
The concert will be at First Congregational Church, UCC, at 25 Woburn Street, Reading. The newly refurbished sanctuary is large enough to host RCCB’s 28-piece ensemble, yet still intimate, with superb accoustics. The concert starts at 5:30, and admission at the door will be $15, (students and seniors $10).
