Police Honored By Home Base After $2,525 Donation
22 Reading officers participated and each pledged $100 to Home Base.

The Reading Police Department has been honored by Home Base, a joint program of the Red Sox Foundation and Massachusetts General Hospital, for its donation of $2,525 to support veterans and their families, Reading Chief Mark Segalla said recently.
The 22 officers who participated each pledged $100 to Home Base and earned a month-long waiver from the department's policy restricting facial hair growth. Along with the officers, four Reading residents donated an additional $325 to Home Base through the Reading Police Department.
"I am proud of our officers for their commitment to helping with the important work that Home Base does," Chief Segalla said. "No Shave November is an excellent way for the department to contribute financially while raising awareness and support for the veterans who have fought to defend our way of life."
