Principals Outline School Improvement Plans
Principals outlined school improvement plans for the 2011-2012 school year at Monday's School Committee meeting.

John Faucher and Jon Bernard, principals of the and the respectively, each took a turn at the podium to give a comprehensive review of current programs and explain plans for the next school year.
Faucher's remarks included topics such as time on learning, assessments, special education services, attendance information, teaching methodology and the students' monthly town meetings.
He took particular satisfaction from the learning teams and the curriculum specialists he put into place this year as well as the appointment of Mr. Michael Maloney as assistant principal.

He anticipates increased achievement, more flexible programming and a continued effort in personalized instruction. He spoke with pride about students' involvement in community service, success in sports, and about the community building going on within and beyond the classrooms.

Two new sections of AP Environmental Science will be offered in the fall, more technology will be available in classrooms as the school acquires more smart boards and pilots the inclusion of electronic notebooks.
The faculty will be preparing for the extensive accreditation process conducted before and during a team from the New England Association of Schools and Colleges evaluates the school in two years.
Low student-teacher ratios remain a priority. A fully implemented "edline" for home-school communication will be evaluated for its effect on increased achievement. He looks forward to the faculty's discussions about the ideas brought up in the book 21st Century Skills and the application of those ideas.
