Priscilla Carter Passes Away

50-year resident of Reading was a member of the Unitarian Universalist Church.

Priscilla L. (Aitken) Carter, a 50-year resident of Reading, passed away on Feb. 1 at the Daniel’s Nursing Home in Reading. She was 86 years of age.

Priscilla was born in Cambridge, Ma. on September 26, 1931, the daughter of James M. and Alison E. (Hatch) Aitken.

Priscilla attended Lesley College. She worked as a substitute teacher but most especially enjoyed teaching student’s poetry. She was a member of the Unitarian Universalist Church in Reading.

Priscilla was the beloved wife of the late John A. Carter. Devoted mother of Steven J. Carter and his wife Joyce of Wakefield, Richard “Rick” Carter and his wife Chris of Reading, and Susan Sabbatelli and her husband John of Wakefield. Cherished sister of Janet Golden of Hingham and sister in-law to Helen Carter of Arlington. Loving grandmother of Michelle, Daniel, Renee, Scott, Ryan, Mitch, Lynsie, and Holly and loving great grandmother of Mason.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 10 at the Douglass, Edgerley and Bessom Funeral Home 25 Sanborn St. (corner of Woburn St.) Reading at 11 am. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 10-11 am. Burial is private.
