Puritan Lawn Memorial Park Hosted The Platters at Candlelight Service
Puritan Lawn announced at the service that they have matched $900 in financial contributions received for Toys for Tots, totaling $1800.
With one of its largest turnouts, Puritan Lawn Memorial Park held its 27th annual Holiday Candlelight Service on Sunday, December 6th, 2015. A special performance was given by The Platters, whose founding member, Herb Reed was interred at Puritan Lawn in 2012. The group sang some of their popular songs in addition to a medley of Christmas songs. The Masconomet Choir, directed by Brian OCock, also performed popular holiday selections throughout the service, while members of the Puritan Lawn community recited short readings.
This year, over $900 was raised for Toys for Tots, which Puritan Lawn has matched, totaling $1,800. Drop boxes set up at the main office and the service were filled with new toy donations from members of the Puritan Lawn community and employees. The goal of Toys for Tots is to provide toys to economically disadvantaged children during the holiday season.
The Candlelight Service is an annual community event offered as an opportunity for families to celebrate the season and pay respects to the memory of their loved ones, whether they are buried at Puritan Lawn or elsewhere.
