Quannapowitt Players Opens Theater Season with Agatha Christie Mystery

Performances of "The Unexpected Guest" run from September 18 to October 3

This month, the Quannapowitt Players of Reading are kicking off their 78th season of theater with the classic Agatha Christie whodunit, ”The Unexpected Guest.”

Directed by Burlington resident David Fisher, the show features local actors Shawn Maguire and Tim Vincent (Reading), Brian Sensale (Wakefield), Amy Cook (Woburn), Barbara Bourgeois (Andover), Jenny Fielding (Methuen), Christopher Connell (Lincoln), Jarod Rouleau (Hopkinton, NH), Paul Warner (Mansfield), and Jon Workman (Salem).

The curtain opens to reveal a lost traveler, whose car has broken down in the thick fog of Wales, entering a manor house looking for assistance. Instead, he finds the owner dead in his wheelchair and his wife standing nearby holding a gun! When the dead man’s wife confesses to the crime, the stranger agrees to provide her with an alibi. But who is he really protecting? The not-so-dearly departed was a detestable brute hated by his entire household and the traveler quickly learns that they all had reasons to want him gone. With her typical twists and turns, Agatha Christie keeps audiences guessing until the very end.
