Reading Attorney Admits Smuggling Conspiracy With Jailed Client

David Perry, 59, pleaded guilty to smuggled items believed to be the painkiller Suboxone under the guise of attorney-client privilege.

READING, MA — A Reading attorney pleaded guilty to conspiring to smuggle items to his jailed client at the Middlesex Jail and House of Correction, the Middlesex District Attorney's office said. David Perry, 59, of Reading, conspired with his client, 40-year-old Derek Bouchard, to deliver an item suspected to be Suboxone during jailhouse visits, according to the DA.

Perry used attorney-client privilege to pass items to Bouchard on two separate occasions, authorities said. The item was suspected to be the painkiller Suboxone.

Perry was sentenced to two years in the house of correction with one year to serve and the balance suspended for two years. Bouchard pleaded guilty to conspiracy to in April and was sentenced to 3-5 years in state prison.
