Reading Attorney Indicted By Grand Jury

Reading's David Perry, 57, along with Roxbury's Derek Bouchard, 38, have been indicted by a Middlesex County Grand Jury in connection with allegedly conspiring to smuggle items into the Middlesex Jail and House of Correction according to Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Middlesex Sheriff Peter Koutoujian.

During October of 2016, Perry, a licensed attorney, allegedly conspired with Bouchard, then a detainee at the Middlesex Jail and House of Correction, to exchange an item, suspected to be Suboxone, during visits occurring at the jail. On two separate occasions Perry allegedly utilized the privilege of his attorney-client relationship to pass these items to Bouchard.

Perry was indicted on charges of delivering an article to a prisoner in a correctional institution and conspiracy. Bouchard was indicted on one charge of conspiracy.

The alleged conspiracy was uncovered during an internal investigation conducted by the Middlesex Sheriff’s Office which identified an individual, Derek Bouchard, who was receiving suspected narcotics. The investigation revealed that the person he was receiving the alleged drugs from was his attorney, David Perry. The Middlesex District Attorney’s Office, in collaboration with the Middlesex Sheriff’s Office, conducted the subsequent investigation.

An arraignment date has not been scheduled for either defendant.

These charges are allegations and the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
