Reading Baseball Defeats Winchester 15-0, Loses to Melrose 7-4
Winchester game ended due to slaughter rule.
The Reading Rockets home opener on Tuesday, April 16 came to an early end due to the slaughter rule in the Middlesex League. Scott Tully was the starting pitcher and completed five innings with Junior Nathan Terry following him to pitch one more.
The Rockets scored in five of their six at bats during the game. At the end of five innings the Rockets were leading 13-0. A number of positional changes were made in the field which then brought some new players to the batters box. In the bottom of the sixth, the Rockets scored two additional runs which brought an end to the game. The final score was 15-0, but Reading will meet Winchester again when they travel to Winchester on May 8.
Reading traveled to Melrose on Wednesday but were defeated 7-4. Reading will meet Burlington on Friday, April 19 at 10 a.m. in Burlington.
