Reading Community Band - Benefit Concert and Open Rehearsals

Reading Community Band - non-profit Calls for volunteer musicians Benefit Concert for the First Congregational Church of Reading, UCC

The Reading Community Concert Band is pleased to announce that Mr. Stephen Bloom, Music Director at Lynnfield Middle School, is now also Director and Conductor for this non-profit, all-volunteer group. Mr. Bloom has sung with the Tanglewood Festival Chorus; He creates original lesson plans for the Boston Symphony Orchestra Youth Concert series; and has just recently relocated to Reading. He has been rehearsing RCCB since July, and their first public outing was to kick-off the Reading Rotary’s Fall Street Faire on Sept. 10.

You can meet Stephen and hear his band play this weekend. They are performing this Saturday at 11:00am, on the lawn at the First Congregational Church of Reading, UCC, as part of their Olde Redding Faire. RCCB will be ‘passing the hat’ during the concert, and all proceeds will benefit the church.

Their next performance will be a Christmas concert in collaboration with the Reading Education Foundation’s “Festival Of Trees”, in early December. RCCB seeks to grow, from 28 members currently, to at least 35 for this next concert. To that end, there will be two Open Rehearsals on Oct 2 and Oct 9, to encourage musicians (budding amateur or seasoned pro, all ages), to join in and try out the group. RCCB rehearses on Monday evenings from 7:30 to 9:00 in the Guild Hall, downstairs at the First Congregational Church, 25 Woburn Street. For rehearsal details or band background, see the RCCB’s website at: ReadingCivicBand.org, For schedule and weather notices see facebook: Reading Community Concert Band.
