Reading Cooperative Bank Reaches Donation Goal in Mission of Deeds Blanket Drive

Reading, MA – Reading Cooperative Bank recently held its second annual blanket drive to benefit the Mission of Deeds. RCB collected blankets from October 10th to November 21st to help provide those less fortunate with the warm beds that are necessary for the cold New England winters. Led by Judy Maclellan and Maureen Bernard, both of the Bank’s lending department, Reading Cooperative was able to reach its goal of 200 blankets.
The drive was made successful through the support of the entire community, including students enrolled in a retail business course at Reading Memorial High School. The students came together and collected over 70 blankets. Their assignment included creating flyers, passing them out, and then collecting the donated blankets.
“We are grateful to have such a strong community that, at any given moment, is willing to come together and support a truly deserving cause. One of the highlights of working at RCB is being able to see first-hand, the benefits of a close knit community through campaigns similar to the Blanket Drive,” says Judy MacLellan, Loan Supervisor.

The Mission of Deeds began with the simple dream of one man: to be able to provide basic home essentials to those in need. Since that day in 1993 when Tony Triglione founded the Mission of Deeds, the organization has served thousands of families and individuals throughout Middlesex and Essex counties. Their many clients include, but are not limited to, those who have been homeless, living with disabilities, and the elderly. With Triglione’s vision as a guide, the Mission will continue to serve the community for years to come.
