Reading Democratic Town Committee Announces Caucus Plans
The committee will meet next month to elect 16 delegates and 3 alternates to attend the 2023 Massachusetts Democratic Convention.

READING, MA — The Reading Democratic Town Committee has announced that it will be holding a caucus next month to elect delegates for the 2023 Massachusetts Democratic Convention.
The caucus will be held at 7 p.m. on June 6 at the Pleasant Street Center, 49 Pleasant Street. There also will be an option to participate via Zoom. Both the in-person and Zoom "venues" will open at 6:30 p.m.
Reading will be electing 16 delegates and three alternates to attend the convention, which takes place on Sept. 23 at the Tsongas Center in Lowell.

Registered and pre-registered Democrats in Reading who are 16 years old by May 23, 2023, are eligible to vote and be elected as delegates or alternates during the caucus.
Additionally, youth (ages 16 to 35), people with disabilities, people of color and members of the LGBTQ+ community who are not elected as delegates or alternates are encouraged to apply to be add-on delegates, which can be done at the caucus or by visiting the Massachusetts Democratic Party website.

At September's convention, the Democratic party will adopt a party agenda or platform by a majority vote of convention delegates. It also will be a chance for Democrats from across the state to gather to meet fellow activists and hear from elected officials, according to party leaders.
