Reading Falls to King Phillip in Super Bowl Thriller

While not ending the way they would have wanted, the Rockets completed another successful season Saturday night.

FOXBORO, MA — In a thrilling showdown at Gillette Stadium, the Reading Memorial High School Rockets football team fell just short of a state championship bid falling to King Phillip by a score of 21-18.

In the school's first state championship, King Phillip completed an undefeated season by topping the Rockets in the final game at Gillette Stadium. On the strength of three touchdowns by KP quarterback Brendan Lydon, KP battled back playing from behind in much of the first half.

This was the Rockets' second straight trip to the state championship. After a rocky 2-2 start to the season, Reading won six of its last eight contests to advance to the state championship game.
