UPDATE: Reading to Host Veterans Day Pancake Breakfast
The breakfast will be followed by a ceremony at the Pleasant Street Senior Center.

Each year on November 11th the Town of Reading gathers to honor its veterans. This year the Town of Reading’s Veteran’s Day Ceremony will again include a complimentary breakfast organized by the Reading Public Services Department. Veterans, their families, friends and neighbors are invited to attend the Annual Veterans Day Breakfast to be held on Veterans Day, November 11 from 9:00 am – 10:30 am at the Reading Pleasant Street Senior Center.
Following breakfast, there will be the traditional Veterans Day Services at the Senior Center. The Services were originally scheduled for Reading Common, but were moved inside due to expected inclement weather on Wednesday.
The ceremony begins promptly at 11:00 am with the National Anthem performed by the Reading Memorial High School Small Ensemble. Speakers for the event include Kevin Bohmiller, Veterans’ Service Officer, Rev. Mary Scott Wagner, Church of Good Shepherd, Daniel Ensminger, Chairman, Board of Selectmen, recognition of Afghanistan Veteran SGT Chris Gaw, and participation by students from Joshua Eaton School as well as Reading Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts.

“Reading is very proud of its veterans, and we are pleased to again host this yearly event to say thank you and to honor their service,” said Reading Town Manager Bob LeLacheur.
Staff from the Reading Public Services Department, including Elder/Human Services Administrator Jane Burns and Veterans Service Officer Kevin Bohmiller and are coordinating the breakfast.

The Pleasant Street Center is located at 49 Pleasant Street, Reading, MA 01867. Van transportation is available to seniors by calling (781) 942-6794. In case of inclement weather all observances will be held at the Reading Senior Center located at 49 Pleasant Street.
